blogs as a tool for monitoring

At the recent Web 2.0 workshop for editors , met the Deputy of Daily Graphic he had this great idea: ensuring all journalists create personal blog and it would be mandatory for them to post all their stories they write for the Graphic.
this personal blog posting becomes a one stop shop for monitoring quality and quantity of stories over any given period of time. This is a cool idea because currently not all stories make it to the graphic website, so the blogs would cover this gap
