Two done, two more to go

Long time since I posted to this blog
busy busy
well, finished up with two projects
1. successfully completed an online course in "How to Build a Web-Based Course" from University of Toronto, it was very difficult since I was always pressed for time during this course. Glad that I pulled it through
2. Contributed the Ghana section on a study by PANOS entitled “RADIOS & ICTs IN WEST AFRICA: CONNECTIVITY AND USES- Ghana study”

New projects
writing two conference papers
1. delivering a paper on Designing and facilitating interactive online course using Web 2.0 tools at the 3rd International Conference on ICT for Development, Education and Training will take place from May 28 to 30, 2008 in Accra during the themed session on : Designing and delivering e-learning
2. the two paper is "Converged Newsrooms: A Case Study from West Africa". at the 2008 Africa Media Leadership Conference to be held in Kampala, Uganda, from May 25 to 28. theme "Doing Digital Media in Africa: Prospects, Promises and Problems".

African Media To Promote Geospatial Science

The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) has established a forum aimed at enhancing the capacity of the media in the promotion, advocacy and awareness-creation of Geospatial Information Science (GIS) on the African continent. Geospatial Information Science refers to the technology used for the measurement, analysis and visualisation of features or spatial phenomenon occurrences. ‘Sakawa’ deals and money transfer

Internet fraudsters operating in the 'sakawa' underworld are said to have deeply penetrated some money transfer outlets with enticing offers to enable them to retrieve large sums of money sent to them by their victims abroad. A case in point is a lady attendant at one of the transfer outlets in Accra alleged to have been compromised by 'sakawa' boys with huge sums of money in 'kickbacks' in lieu of the presentation of correct documents for the collection of their remittances. The attendant (name withheld) allegedly collects 10 per cent of the amounts involved from 'sakawa' boys who present code numbers and their personal identity cards to collect money in the name of females and 20 per cent from those who do not present identity cards.
