What are Communities of Practice (Networks)

Communities of practice(often abbreviated as CoP)
- Networks of people who work together in an organization and who regularly share information and knowledge
- are communities of people who share the same profession, situation, or vocation and their goal to share information and knowledge is the glue that holds them together
- In organizational development (OD) concept of a community of practice refers to the process of social learning that occurs when people who have a common interest in some subject or problem collaborate to share ideas, find solutions, and build innovations.
CoP is crucial to the success of any knowledge management strategy. As the communities of practice go through a series of stages in their evolution, they provide the platform for knowledge exchange.
